Work 6 : To my Flower
Dear Flower,
You have bloomed.
At once, you have taken sight of this world, a flower new, unplucked and true. After planting your seed, we waited and waited, praying, and wishing for you to grow and alas here you are. You are beautiful, bright under the sunlight that may be a little to harsh for a flower as yourself, enjoying the waters that bring us life and joy, and… breaking my heart with your sudden appearance. Your presence is one I have prayed for and will cherish nonetheless, blooming from a garden of uncertainty. But now anxieties and fears blossom behind you.
What with the future hold for you and myself? What would become of you if I am absent sometime, never to return to water your grounds? Will another take my place, tending to your petals as carefully as I have tried? Would they do better? Would you suffer under the hands of a malicious beast of a being who would pluck your petals one by one until you’d feel you have no beauty in yourself? Would you have the unfortunate fate of stumbling across one who hated the look of your very stem and petals, feeling it just to tear you away our grounds, with no care for your deep and proud roots? Would you then hate me for my lack of nurturing? Would you keep searching for another to fill your love? Would you give up?
Please do no wither should I go too soon. Please carry on and shine to the sun. Smile in my absence. Bring me memories of your days feeling the breeze, even if I’m not there to feel them. Bring me memories of playing in the rain, even if I’m not there to splash in the puddles beside you. Bring me memories in the forests and meadows, even if I’m not there to receive the same scrapes and grass stains alongside you.
My precious flower, bloom as proudly as you can, even if I’m not there to water you. Bloom proudly and spread careful seeds that you’d love as much as I love you.
-SunBoy
